We named the company 1823 in honor of the first gold discovery in Canada. Gold was found in 1823 along the shores of the Chaudière River in the Eastern Townships of Québec.

Mr. Carl Dufour is the president of the engineering firm 1823 Consulting Inc. located in Quebec. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. He has over 22 years of experience as a manager and engineer.
He is an innovator who carries out large-scale projects while working within the teams in an evolving environment. He has been associated with major successful projects and teamwork is the key to success.
Mr. Dufour is a registered professional engineer in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. He has worked on engineering and construction projects while building the engineering firm ASDR Solutions as President. He was also a partner at Genivar, a firm now known as WSP.
At Genivar, he held positions as project manager, construction manager, project manager and various management positions. Mr. Dufour has many accomplishments to his credit. He held the position of construction manager at Minerai de Fer Québec to lead a project of over $633M in investments. He was involved in the underground infrastructure of the Eleonore Mine (Newmont), the Borden Mine (Newmont) and the Kidd Creek Mine (Glencore) in Timmins. He has been involved in various projects such as surface, underground and concentrator installations.ing

François is a graduate of the École Polytechnique de Montréal in mechanical engineering. He has over twenty years of experience as a mechanical engineer and is specialized in project management. Renowned as a construction manager, he has managed several large-scale projects in the mining sector and is recognized for his great planning and team management skills.
PASCAL MARCOTTE, ING., P. ENG. M.SC.A
PARTNER AND WATER TREATMENT ENGINEER
Pascal Marcotte has been working in the water treatment industry for the last 10 years and is registered as a professional engineer in both Nunavut and Quebec. Over the years, Pascal has developed an expertise in the treatment of mine impacted water, including hands on experience with natural attenuation, high-rate clarifiers, moving bed biofilm reactors, membrane processes, as well as breakpoint chlorination and ozonation systems.
Mr. Marcotte participated in the design, construction, commissioning and operation of numerous water treatment plants, allowing him to gain a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities of each project stage. If you can’t find him talking passionately about mine water treatment to a colleague, he’s probably fly fishing somewhere in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.

Myriam Desbiens is regional director in Abitibi-Témiscamingue for 1823 Consultants inc. She holds a bachelor degree from the Université du Québec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue in electromechanical engineering since 2007 and has practiced her profession in mechanical engineering for over 15 years, mainly in mining field.
Myriam has a very diversified experience in engineering consulting, construction site supervision and project management coming from engineering firms, contractor or mining company what confers her a complete profile to contribute to all 1823 Consulting activities. Her experience and good communication abilities will allow her to support her team, serve her client with professionalism and understand all participants implicated in a project.
Myriam is also involved on a volunteer basis as President of the Board of Directors of Technobois, a socio-professional integration organization.
